Wall/Vertical mounted
Includes mounting to balconies and
stair-well facades and curved surfaces. Useful where pitched roof space
is not suitable although reduces the efficiency of the collector.
Flat/horizontal mounted
Typically supported by rear stainless steel A frame. Can be
used on flat roofs or as ground mounts.
Unusual roof structures
Commercial
profiled steel, stone slabs, synthetic membranes are just some of the
structures that require special fixing solutions.
Light weight collectors
Typically all plastic used for conservatories and greenhouses.
Stored and instant mains pressure systems
The former associated with combi-boilers,
the latter relevant to commercial daytime processes. See technical for more details. |
Low voltage and non-electric
systems
Occasionally, the use of grid mains is not suitable or desirable for pump
control. There are two methods around this:
- Photovoltaic low voltage pumps.
Here, a small PV module is fixed near to the main solar collector and
a cable runs to a DC pump with any pump control (DTC). When there is
enough sunlight to heat the collector, the pump runs as well.
- Thermosyphon collectors.
These can be very simple and use no electric connections,
however there are strict site requirements which rule out this method
for most sites principally as the solar store must be raised above the
collector. Often seen in warmer climates with the store above the roof.
Intelligent solar-to-boiler controls
Suitable in conjunction with our new central heating installations where
the boiler firing is retarded as soon as the sun shines. |
